Beauty and Fashion

This year, the K-Beauty (Korean Beauty) clearly took over social media. Hitting over $13 billion in revenue, the Korean skincare routine definitely took off the roof and continued to innovate specific targeting for the female (and even men’s) daily skincare routine. Online beauty tutorials, IG- looking packaging plus customized brand experience made this trend rise beyond.

Commerce

Two of the main highlights that peaked through consumers’ purchasing behavioral patterns has something to do with how eco-friendly the product was and how it was made. Garbage pollution became the focal point for people to start switching to greener, sustainable products that will help contribute to a healthier environment. From bamboo or metal straws to package-less everyday consumable products like food or skincare products, it all made a great shift to how consumers think before purchasing.

Entertainment

Horror, smart sounds and escapism: that’s what hyped up the entertainment scene, especially the Millennial and Generation Z market. Live streams and reaction videos were big hits for those who want to escape the boredom online. Horror movies were not just about scaring: it also opened wider conversation regarding mental health disorders that are rarely talked about especially by the older generations. It’s all about giving these type of market something new, thrilling and social immersive topic.

Food & Drink

The F&B industry was at its most diverse this 2018, thanks to different food and travel vlog showcasing unusual foods and incredibly appetizing Instagram photos that paved the way for the discovery of good foreign food. From Japan’s ramen to the most adventurous combination of dessert and savory in America, it created a great experience for every kind of person.
